Participate Reflection

Participate Reflection
  1. How has the Participate module prepared you to meet each standard listed above? For each standard, link to or provide specific examples from your work in Participate.
The lessons had me look at different aspects of the digital world and think about some consequences of living the digital life.

  1. What strategies will you take away from the Participate module and apply to your teaching? Explain why.
Students will be expected to adhere to copyright rules, use learning websites, not websites that will do the work for them as an ethical consideration. Students will participate in DLC's to share ideas in a beneficial way.
  1. What lessons were most beneficial for you? Explain why.
Collecting Digital resources because as an online teacher we constantly have to look for resources that will adhere to our lessons
Joinig a DLC - There are many more of these than I thought. I will have to look at some others.
  1. Accessibility issues, Ethical issues and Ergonomic Issues:
These are lessons that the students do not think about, the unexpected responsibilities of living in a digital world. I would want to show my students each of these concepts to open their minds beyond web searched and social media.

Be aware of where you are and who can see you. DO NOT post personal information or location. Tell a trusted adult. Never meet anyone from the net! Do not tell people their passwords
  1. What strategies can we take to help our students consistently keep digital safety in the forefront of their minds?
Teach and remind often. Go through the lessons, below watch the scenarios. NetSmartz is a great website that has activities that are age appropriate.  Put this poster on your wall and talk about each piece. Do not avoid difficult conversations with your students about the do's and dont's of Cyber Safety.
